Modding Weapons and Gear in The Division 2 is one of the fastest ways to make your character more powerful. Mods can make items way more powerful and improve your core attributes and skills. This guide will explain how to mod gear in The Division 2.

  1. The Division 2 Utility Protocol Mod Slots

System and protocol mods are just two different kinds of slots on gear. Both are capable of crafting into specific types: Defensive (armor/health/resistances etc), Utility (skill power/ explosive. Tom Clancy's The Division 2 PlayStation 4. This means a mod can be slotted into it, depending on the slot. Offensive, defensive, blah blah blah.

How to Mod Weapons and Gear in The Division 2

The first thing you’ll need if you want to mod gear in The Division 2 is an item that is modifiable. These items are less common than standard items and you can tell the difference between modifiable gear and non-modifiable gear by examining it in your inventory screen. This screen will show you what types of mods can be used with a specific piece of gear.

If a weapon has mods you can then press the X Button (Xbox One) or the Square Button (PS4) to access the mod screen.

Gear, Skills, and Weapons can be modified to gain new powers. Weapons mods are unlocked and only need to be acquired once for each individual mod. Gear mods and skill mods are individual items. You will be able to find stronger versions of these items that have higher levels and better quality.

How to get Mods in The Division 2

Just because an item is modifiable doesn’t mean you can mod it automatically. You’re going to need to have mods available if you want to do that. Mods can be found in the game as loot items and they can also be purchased from vendors or they can be crafted as well.

With Appearance Mods you’ll be able to make it look like a full set of Wyvern Wear or any combination of other brands and gear you’ve collected throughout the Division 2.

You can check out our full breakdown of everything there is to know about Appearance Mods in our dedicated article here.

SEASON EVENTS

The Division 2: Warlords of New York continues Season 2 – Keener’s Legacy with the return of the Reanimated Global Event and the week-2 reset for the Huntsman League. The Huntsman League runs until August 25 and the various challenge stages were reset on August 18, offering you another chance to earn ranks to get the final rewards for the event. An Exotic cache and the Loyal Hound backpack trophy await as the level 9 and 10 rewards respectively.

The Reanimated Global Event rises again until August 25! Eliminate enemies with head shots to make them explode with a damaging cloud of gas, or risk allowing them to rise from the dead. Complete different challenges throughout the event to earn rewards and caches.

PRIORITY ALERTS

We conducted a routine maintenance on August 18 to address issues with Clan XP and some players getting Delta errors when equipping Exotic Weapons.

The Division 2 Utility Protocol Mod Slot

The weekly maintenance on August 25 will only occur on PlayStation 4 and will see the implementation of a fix for bluescreen errors for many players.
